...................................

[Verse 1]
                         C
We drank our beer in the basement
                   D
So no one would know
                         C
We didn't care where the days went
                   G
Had nowhere to go, center point road
                     C
When everything was about a kiss
                            D
And clouds just looked like battleships
                 C
Helmets crashin' on the field
                     G
And we thought every love was real

[Chorus]
                 C
We wrote our own destiny
                    D
In parkin' lots and empty streets
                     C
Yeah, we got high on you and me
                     G
Jumped over cracks beneath our feet
                        C
And we thought it would never end
                        D
Then watched it go like summer wind
                    C
When growin' up was just a dream
                     G
And Friday night was everything

[Verse 2]
                            C
Yeah, we didn't worry 'bout nothin'
            D
We had it all, yeah
                 C
And bein' the fastest was somethin'
                   G
Runnin' the halls, breakin' the law
                   C
Life was about the party (The party, yeah)
                D
Who you are and who you're with
                            C
Drinkin' 'til your head was sorry
                        G
Oh, and dancin' for the hell of it, yeah

[Chorus]
                 C
We wrote our own destiny
                    D
In parkin' lots and empty streets
                     C
Yeah, we got high on you and me
                     G
Jumped over cracks beneath our feet
                        C
And we thought it would never end
                        D
Then watched it go like summer wind
                    C
When growin' up was just a dream
                     G
And Friday night was everything

[Bridge]
           C
Hold on forever (Hold on forever)
                D
Yeah, hold onto it (Hold onto it)
                 C
Yeah, hold on forever (Hold on forever)
              G
And never let go of it (Ooh, ooh)

[Bridge 2]
                          C
Everyone says when you're younger
                D
It's gonna go fast
                          C
It suddenly hits you like thunder
                          G
And you're gonna wanna go back

(Wanna go back, wanna go back, wanna go back)

[Chorus]
                 C
We wrote our own destiny
                    D
In parkin' lots and empty streets
                     C
Yeah, we got high on you and me
                     G
Jumped over cracks beneath our feet
                        C
And we thought it would never end
                        D
Then watched it go like summer wind
                    C
When growin' up was just a dream
                     G
And Friday night was everything

[Outro]
                 C
We wrote our own destiny
                    D
In parkin' lots and empty streets
                    C
When growin' up was just a dream
                     G
And Friday night was everything
[Song Review]
Ah yes, the bitter sweet moment that you realize that you've gone old. It's like when you are young, you don't have a care in the world and you think that everything is gonna last forever. A LOT of us took it for granted, thinking that we'll never grow old and still have a lot of time. But just a few blinks and you'll suddenly be 30. What will you do then? Take my advice and live every day like it was your last. This song really hits a tender spot in my heart. I applaud you Thomas Rhett for making such a wonderful music.
