Hey homecoming queen

Why do you lie
                F#m
When somebody's mean?
             E
Where do you hide?
            D
Do people assume
                A
You're always alright?
                 F#m
Beenso good at smiling
             E
Mostof your life

Zipping up the mess

Dancing with your best foot forward
                A
Does it get hard
                        F#m
To have to play the part?
                  E
Nobody's feeling sorry for ya

[Chorus]
D A F#m
But what if I told you the world wouldn't end
               E D
If you started showing what's under your skin
            A F#m
What if you let 'em all in on the lie?
         E
Even the homecoming queen cries

                A
How's things at home?
                 F#m
Still walking on eggshells
                   E
When that curtains closed
               D
Did your daddy teach you
           A
How to act tough?
                  F#m
Or more like your momma?
                   E
Sweep it under the rug

[Pre-Chorus]
     D A

Dancing with your best foot forward
                     A
Did you want the crown
                        F#m
Or does it weigh you down
                  D
Nobody's feeling sorry for ya

[Chorus]
D A F#m
But what if I told you the world wouldn't end
               E D
If you started showing what's under your skin
            A F#m
What if you let 'em all in on the lie?
         E
Even the homecoming queen cries
                D A
Yeah, what if I told you the sky wouldn't fall?
                    F#m E
If you lost your composure, said to hell with it all
               D A
Not everything pretty sparkles and shines
             F#m E
And even the homecoming queen cries
D A F#m
Oh yeah....

                F#m
When somebody's mean
             E
Where do you hide?

[Song Review]
It's no secret that people today are under a lot of pressure, especially the women. Everyone always want to put people in a pedestal without asking them how they may feel about it. I have experience with this personally. And it sucks. It kinda messes you up for years. But the good thing with this is, you come out of it stronger. Everyone goes through their own personal battles. It's up to us if we will let it kick us down to the ground. This song is a very powerful one. Kelsea Ballerini sounds very vulnerable in this. She doesn't sound like someone who's singing but someone who is telling a story. A struggle that people tend to overlook.
